Post-Doctoral Associate - SUN
Position Summary
This position in the Department of Plant Pathology will conduct cutting-edge research on the molecular biology and genetics of plant RNA viruses. Current research focuses on understanding host responses to vascular invading viruses.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Independently design and execute research projects under the guidance of the lab lead. Communicate regularly with the PI regarding research and other issues relevant to the project. (50%)
- Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data. (15%)
- Prepare and publish manuscripts in leading scientific journals. (10%)
- Contribute to daily lab management and maintenance tasks. (15%)
- Mentor and train undergraduate and graduate students. (10%)
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position
Ph.D. in Virology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a closely related field. Experience working with citrus, cotton, or plant RNA viruses. Background in bioinformatics.
Physical Demands
This position will require the ability to carry out field work under various environmental conditions, and standard laboratory and greenhouse work. Travel to field sites will be required.
