Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in the Department of Ophthalmology, School of Clinical Medicine (several posts) (Ref.: 531563), to commence as soon as possible, on a one- to two-year temporary basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.
The Department of Ophthalmology, working with ophthalmologists and visual scientists in Hong Kong and Mainland China, is committed to advancing patient service, research, and training and education to the highest quality in all major areas of Ophthalmology. We are looking for local and overseas candidates to take up positions in our clinical and research (academic, community, and translational) programmes.
Applicants should have:
- A PhD degree from a university with good QS World University Rankings, specializing in Biological Sciences, preferably in ophthalmology, computer sciences, statistics, or public health;
- Proficiency in English;
- Solid experience in ophthalmology and visual sciences research, deep learning in imaging analysis, clinical trials, epidemiology, genetic studies, big data analysis, R language or related statistical software, or Python software, or programming skills for deep learning tools;
- Proven track records and the ability to work independently and within a team;
- A keen interest in research work in the field of ophthalmology and visual sciences;
- Self-motivation, sincerity, a strong sense of responsibility, and a teamwork spirit.
Both local and overseas applications are welcome. A strong track record with high-impact publications and expertise in deep learning in imaging analysis and advanced statistical techniques would be advantageous.
Duties include:
- Coordinating research projects and developing research methods;
- Data analysis, manuscript writing, and grant preparation;
- Providing training to junior staff and students;
- Performing other departmental tasks as assigned.
