Activities and context: The fellow will work at the São Paulo State University's Center for Studies of Venoms and Venomous Animals (CEVAP-UNESP) in Botucatu, Brazil, on the immunological study of animal venoms and toxins and on the development and evaluation of antivenoms and immunobiologicals. Tasks include immunization protocols and production of hyperimmune plasma and immunoglobulins (IgG, F(ab')2); immunoassays (ELISA, Western blot, immunodiffusion, interferometry, SPR); venomemia/antivenomemia analyses; neutralization and potency assays, including the anti-Apis serum; plus monoclonal/recombinant antibodies, cell culture and bioreactors, integrating antivenomics.

Mandatory requirements: PhD in Immunology, Biological Sciences, Biotechnology, Pharmacy, Medicine, Health Sciences or related fields, obtained less than 7 years before the start of the fellowship. Proven experience in immunoassays (ELISA, Western blot, immunodiffusion) and antibody characterization techniques, as well as in neutralization assays and/or serum potency evaluation. Scientific writing skills in English and a publication record. Exclusive dedication, no employment relationship, and registration in FAPESP's SAGe system.
Desirable requirements: Prior experience with animal venoms, toxins or immunobiologicals; immunization protocols, hyperimmune plasma production and immunoglobulin processing (IgG, F(ab')2); familiarity with monoclonal/recombinant antibodies, flow cytometry, immunogenicity assessment and/or antivenomics; experience with animal experimentation and good laboratory practices, observing ethical and animal welfare standards; and ability to work in a multidisciplinary translational team.

This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationality. The selected candidate will receive a FAPESP Post-Doctoral fellowship in the amount of R$ 12,570.00 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 10% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent on items directly related to the research activity.
