Offer Description
Activities and context: A FAPESP-funded post-doctoral position is available at the Federal University of ABC (UFABC), Santo André, Brazil, within a Thematic Project (FAPESP grant number 2022/14753-0) jointly funded with the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO). The fellow will develop and validate an electrochemical aptasensor integrated with microneedles, with Cr/Au interdigitated electrodes, for impedimetric IL-6 detection in interstitial fluid. Activities include electrode modification, aptamer immobilization, and morphological, structural, and electrochemical characterization. A research stay at Radboud University Medical Center is planned, subject to FAPESP approval of a research internship abroad (RIA).
Mandatory requirements: PhD obtained less than seven years ago in Chemistry, Materials Science/Engineering, Chemical or Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related field. Proven experience in electroanalysis and electrochemical sensor or biosensor development. Proficiency in electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), cyclic voltammetry, pulse techniques, and/or amperometry. Knowledge of morphological, structural, surface, and electrochemical characterization, with the ability to interpret results. Scientific independence, an appropriate publication record, and good scientific English.
Desirable requirements: Experience with electrochemical techniques applied to the characterization of interfaces and charge-transfer processes; nanostructured materials and thin films; surface functionalization and aptamer, antibody, or biomolecule immobilization; fabrication of interdigitated or printed electrodes and microneedles; biological samples, ex vivo skin, or biomimetic models assays; and integrated analysis of morphological, structural and electrochemical data will be considered an advantage.

This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationality. The selected candidate will receive a FAPESP Post-Doctoral fellowship in the amount of R$ 12,570.00 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 10% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent on items directly related to the research activity.
