The selected candidate's main activities include:
Data Organization – Compile and harmonize macrofauna/soil data and metadata (location, climate, soil properties) into the GlobalSoilMacrofauna format. Deposit datasets in open-access cloud/local repositories.
Data Analysis – Explore drivers of macrofauna abundance/diversity in tropical regions; analyze links between macrofauna and soil carbon; build/validate scoring algorithms using machine learning/cumulative functions.
Outputs – Lead scientific, technical, and policy reports; publish high-impact papers; lead dataset deposits; organize partner workshops.
Mandatory requirements
PhD in Soil Science, Agronomy or Environmental Science; Solid experience with soil macrofauna field assessments; experience in dataset organization, statistical analysis, and/or soil health assessment frameworks; previous publication(s) of scientific paper(s) on soil macrofauna; familiarity with statistical software (R, Python, SAS, or similar); English proficiency for reading, writing, and presenting; full-time residence in Piracicaba.
Desirable requirements
Experience with large datasets and metadata standardization; knowledge of geospatial analysis (GIS, QGIS, Google Earth Engine); experience with carbon and soil health metrics and assessment frameworks; previous publications on soil health and soil carbon; familiarity with cloud repositories and reproducible workflows; valid driver’s license.

This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationality. The selected candidate will receive a FAPESP Post-Doctoral fellowship in the amount of R$ 12,570.00 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 10% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent on items directly related to the research activity.
