Post-doctoral Research Fellow
A post-doctoral fellow position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Xiaolei Xu, Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, co-director, cardiovascular program of the Robert and Arlene Kogod Center on Aging at Mayo Clinic. The successful applicant will join a team that is leveraging powerful zebrafish genetics to model human cardiovascular and kidney diseases, to decipher underlying mechanisms, and to develop new therapies. At present, the lab is developing African Turquoise Killifish, a vertebrate with the shortest lifespan that can be bred in captivity, as a new animal model for genetic studies of cardiac aging. Applications are invited from candidates who have a strong background in molecular biology, genetics and/or cardiovascular diseases. Previous experience in animal models of human diseases and/or bioinformatics such as single cell RNAseq data analysis are favored. Qualified candidates must be self-motivated and have a strong commitment to basic research.
