Description
Dr. Tuğçe Yüksel at Sabancı University is looking for outstanding post-doctoral researchers who are willing to apply for Marie Sklodowska – Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowships (PF) 2026 call. This position is up to two years located at Sabancı University, Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences
HOST INSTITUTION:
On a national level, SU has been one of the most successful universities in Turkiye in terms of the number of EU Framework Programmes funded projects per faculty member. The Sabancı University Research and Technology Transfer Office (SU ATT) is well-structured to manage the 262 active projects simultaneously, with approximately 57% of the total budget allocated to EU projects.
Research at SU is an interdisciplinary effort extending across all branches of science, technology, and arts. Academic activities are performed within the framework of three faculties composed of non-departmental and interdisciplinary programs: the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and the School of Management, which feature a total of 12 undergraduate, 52 graduate and 17 doctoral programs. SU also has several research centres, including Integrated Manufacturing Research and Application Center (SU-IMC), Data Analytics Research and Application Center (VERIM), Center of Excellence in Nano Diagnostics (EFSUN).
OFFER DESCRIPTION & REQUIREMENTS:
Research activities led by Dr. Tuğçe Yüksel focus on sustainable transportation, with an emphasis on understanding the performance, cost and environmental implications of technology and operation conditions in vehicle electrification.
We welcome proposals that contribute to advancing the understanding and deployment of sustainable transport systems, particularly at the interface of vehicle technologies, operations, and energy systems. Topics of interest include:
- System-level impacts of transport electrification
- Assessing how vehicle technologies, operating conditions, and regional factors jointly shape energy use, costs, and emissions outcomes.
- Battery performance, degradation, and system implications
- Modeling battery behavior under realistic operating conditions, including aging, thermal effects, and charging strategies, and linking cell- and pack-level characteristics to vehicle performance and lifecycle impacts.
- Coupled transport–energy system analysis
- Evaluating interactions between EV fleets and energy systems, including implications for emissions, costs, and infrastructure planning.
- Hybrid modeling approaches
- Combining physics-based models with data-driven methods to improve accuracy, scalability, and decision support.
Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Systems Engineering, or a closely related discipline. A solid background in one or more of the following areas is expected:
- Transport and energy systems modeling and analysis
- Battery systems, including performance and degradation modeling
- Data-driven methods and machine learning applied to transport and/or energy systems
- Mathematical modeling and optimization
- Simulation and computational modeling (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, Python, or similar tools)
- Environmental assessment methods (e.g., lifecycle analysis, emissions modeling)
Researchers of any nationality in possession of a doctoral degree and those who have not resided in Türkiye for more than 12 months in the three years before the call deadline (9 Sept 2026) are eligible to apply.
