The university of Bordeaux is a great dynamic and responsible university that cares about the well-being of its staff. Joining us means working in a privileged environment within a particularly diverse and open professional community, benefiting from welcome and inclusion schemes, training and internal mobility. It means participating in an academic, scientific and human adventure. It means committing to meeting the challenges of the 21st century.
Join the Paul Pascal Research Center (CRPP) – of the University of Bordeaux!
This laboratory is a joint unit of the CNRS and the University of Bordeaux. It is made up of six research teams and several common services. Its research activities are divided into three complementary areas with a strong multidisciplinary aspect: soft matter, functional materials and interface with biology.
As part of the LIGHT Major Research Program (GPR), we are recruiting a Post-Doctoral Researcher W/M in nanosciences. This interdisciplinary project is conducted in collaboration with the Center for Structural Biology (CBS) of Montpellier, specialized in DNA-based nanotechnologies.
This project aims to develop a new approach for the fabrication of nanoparticles bearing several distinct domains ("patches") with controlled shape, orientation and position on their surface. The ultimate goal is to use these nanoparticles as building blocks for programmed self-assembly of aperiodic photonic structures with emerging optical properties.
Main activities:
You will be in charge of the development and characterization of DNA-functionalized nanoparticles, combining surface functionalization approaches of nanoparticles and DNA origamis.
You will work in a highly interdisciplinary environment, at the interface between colloidal nanoparticles, surface chemistry, DNA-based nanotechnologies and self-assembly.
You will be supervised by Serge RAVAINE, in collaboration with the researchers involved in the project at CBS.
Functionalization of nanoparticles
- You functionalize nanoparticle surfaces with DNA strands
- You develop strategies to control the location of features on the surface of nanoparticles
- You develop nanoparticles with several distinct and controlled surface domains
DNA Origamis
- You are implementing strategies based on DNA origami to encode information on the surface of nanoparticles.
- You adapt and combine origami nanostructures with functionalized nanoparticles
Synthesis and characterization of nanoparticles
- You prepare and characterize the nanoparticles used in the project
- You study their morphology and organization at different scales
- You notably carry out characterizations by transmission electron microscopy (TEM)
Self-assembly of photonic structures
- You are studying the programmed self-assembly of nanoparticles with patches
- You are exploring the formation of aperiodic structures from these colloidal bricks
You contribute to the scientific dissemination of results within the teams involved in the project and through scientific communications and international publications.
The + of this offer: an experience in an international scientific environment at the interface between nanoscience, nanotechnology, DNA and materials science
