"Post Doctoral Scholar"

The Postdoctoral Scholar will participate in a lab-based research project that evaluates the drivers of eye diversity and function under dim-light environments. The post doc will integrate protein function, trait evolution, and large-scale phylogenomic analyses to address fundamental questions in evolutionary biology through means of expressing proteins in cell culture, phylogenetic analyses of large next-generation sequencing (NGS) datasets, and models of trait evolution. The post doc will also integrate molecular data with comparative and evolutionary frameworks.

Minimum Education Required

Ph.D. degree in Evolutionary Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related field

Required Qualifications

Two years of experience with heterologous protein expression in cell culture, expertise in phylogenetic analysis of large NGS datasets, and proficiency with relevant bioinformatic pipelines, statistical tools, and software is required. This experience could include graduate level work or other related experiences. Experience working on light-sensitive proteins is preferred.

All candidates should have a background or interest in the evolution of eyes, be capable of working long periods of time in dark room conditions and be willing and able to perform standard laboratory procedures.

The pay range for this job profile is $61,008 annually. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.

This is a 3 year term position.
