Post Doctoral Scholar
A Postdoctoral Scholar position is available immediately in the Department of Food, Agricultural, and Biological Sciences and the School of Environment and Natural Resources within the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) at The Ohio State University (OSU). This USDA-funded project seeks a highly motivated Postdoctoral Scholar to contribute to research focused on agricultural water quality and watershed-scale processes. Primary responsibilities include:
- Field-based sampling and data collection related to water quality
- Data analysis and hydrological modeling to evaluate environmental outcomes and ecosystem services
The Postdoctoral Scholar will coordinate closely with a collaborative, multi-institutional team of researchers at academic and research institutions. The postdoc will contribute to extension-related activities in collaboration with Extension faculty and partners. In addition to leading data collection, analysis, and modeling efforts, the Postdoctoral Scholar will be expected to:
- Disseminate research findings through peer-reviewed journal articles
- Contribute to extension publications and outreach materials
- Present results at professional and scientific meetings
The position provides opportunities for the Postdoctoral Scholar to develop independent research ideas within the broader scope of the project and to build experience at the interface of research, modeling, and Extension. This is a term appointment, with annual renewals contingent upon availability of funding and satisfactory performance. The position will be based on the Columbus campus of The Ohio State University. The Postdoctoral Scholar will work under the supervision of:
- Dr. Asmita Murumkar, Assistant Professor and Ecosystem Services Field Specialist, Extension Agricultural and Natural Resources, with faculty appointment in Food, Agricultural, and Biological Engineering, The Ohio State University
- Dr. Steven Lyon, Professor, School of Environment and Natural Resources, The Ohio State University

Required Qualifications:
- Earned Ph.D. by date of hire with a strong academic background in agricultural engineering, ecological engineering, environmental engineering, civil engineering, hydrology, soil science, or a closely related field.
- Experience using hydrologic models, decision tools for field and watershed assessment, and basic knowledge of agricultural conservation practices.
- Experience writing successful manuscripts and grant proposals.
Required Skills:
- Knowledge of programming languages such as FORTRAN, R, MATLAB. Experience using the hydrologic models.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to work with interdisciplinary teams and mentor students.
