Post Doctoral Scholar
Seeking a Post Doctoral Scholar to join the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at The Ohio State University to study excited-state dynamics and finite-temperature electronic structure of condensed-phase systems using theoretical and computational methods. The Post Doctoral Scholar will embark on a program of independent research with the primary goal to determine how strongly coupled electronic and vibrational excitations shape the finite-temperature response properties of interfaces and solids. Duties will include conducting research work centered around developing first principles theoretical methods, performing multiscale simulations, and analyzing computational data; leading manuscript preparation for submission to peer-reviewed journals; and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. Other responsibilities include the maintenance of custom open-source computing software.
Qualifications:
PhD in chemistry or physics or a related field by the time of hire is required, along with a strong theoretical background in physical chemistry or chemical physics. Demonstrated experience operating and maintaining a codebase of theoretical methods and software; excellent verbal and written communication skills; and a collaborative mentality towards research and mentoring.
Desired skills and techniques include experience developing condensed-phase electronic structure methods, quantum-classical dynamics approaches, or Green’s function techniques. These required and desired skills should be demonstrated through a record of peer-reviewed publications.
