Post Doctoral Scholar- Microbial Infection and Immunity
Post Doctoral Scholar to pursue research studying mechanisms controlling plasma membrane repair and cell death pathways during infection and inflammation under the guidance of scientific mentor in the Department of Microbial Infection & Immunity; designs, conducts, and evaluates research experiments; plans and executes advanced cellular biology, molecular biology, quantitative fluorescence microscopy, live-cell imaging, and flow cytometry research techniques and procedures; develops, adopts and implements new laboratory methods; analyzes and interprets data; writes research papers for publication; performs scientific literature searches; presents research findings at local, national, or international scientific meetings; applies for postdoctoral fellowships; assists PI with writing and submitting grant proposals to obtain extramural funding in support of research; performs scientific literature searches; participates in journal clubs, laboratory meetings, and Department seminars and activities; assists with training of other lab members.
Minimum Education Required
MD, PhD, or MD/PhD required.
Required Qualifications
Ability to interact in a highly multidisciplinary environment; experience with cellular biology, molecular biology, quantitative fluorescence microscopy, live-cell imaging, and flow cytometry research techniques and procedures desired; experience with animal handling and husbandry desired. Requires successful completion of a background check; qualified candidates may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.
