Postdoc Advanced Sorting of Rare Earth Elements Ores
Job Summary: Extracting Rare Earth Elements (REEs) from ores requires innovative beneficiation technologies. This postdoc position involves working on the Horizon Europe project SUPREEMO to develop sustainable processing technologies for REEs, focusing on magnetic liquids and optical sorting techniques to separate REE-bearing minerals from gangue materials.
Responsibilities: Design interactions between fluids, high-intensity magnetic fields, and particles; develop, construct, and test innovative sorting equipment; conduct experiments and modelling on particle-fluid dynamics in magnetic fields; and contribute to the separation of material streams in multiple equipment systems.
Qualifications: A PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent; excellent comprehension of English (spoken and written); and an affinity for innovation.
Requirements: Interest in engineering and physics; willingness to work in an international and multidisciplinary team; knowledge of process technology and 3D CAD modelling platforms (e.g., SolidWorks or Inventor) is advantageous.
