Within the Department of Primary Care at Radboudumc, the research group Medicine for People with Intellectual Disabilities (GMVB) collaborates with six disability care organizations in the academic workplace Sterker op eigen benen. From this collaboration, Carmenda was created. For the research tasks within Carmenda, we are looking for a driven postdoc researcher to strengthen our research team. Carmenda focuses on improving the possibilities to use routine care data for research into the health of people with intellectual disabilities (ID). The activities of Carmenda include making data available, conducting research, and organizing the necessary conditions. Carmenda is funded by the Ministry of VWS.
As a postdoc in the Carmenda team, you will work with other postdocs, PhD students, and junior researchers on the research themes of Carmenda. In addition to research, you will also contribute to quality assurance and the further development and application of (innovative) research methods. This could be, for example, in the area of population data or analysis of textual data. As a postdoc, you will work on several substantive topics and further build the research lines in that area. Benchmarking of health parameters in disability care. Early detection of swallowing problems from dossier data. Further development of utilizing textual reports for research purposes. In consultation, we will look at which topics have priority and best align with your expertise and interest.
Your tasks include: Designing and conducting research. Further developing the research topics and aligning them with other activities within the project. Supporting and advising the team from your themes and expertise. Project management. Writing and publishing scientific articles. Thinking about the further development of methods to share results with a broader audience. Actively participating in meetings with project partners and internal and external stakeholders. Presenting research results at (inter)national conferences and (practice) meetings. Representing the Academic Workplace in relevant networks.
Our ideal postdoc has a great interest in the overlap between health care and data science and affinity with the target group of people with ID. This can focus on both textual data (NLP) and structured (population) data. In addition, you recognize yourself in the following profile: A relevant PhD in, for example: Epidemiology, (bio)statistics, linguistics, health sciences, social or behavioral sciences, or medicine. Experience in analyzing large datasets, including CBS data and medical records, from structured or textual data. Knowledge of and experience with statistical software, such as R, SPSS or SAS. Familiarity and/or experience with programming languages such as Python is a plus. Experience with natural language processing (NLP) is a plus. Demonstrable skills in applying advanced statistical and analytical methods. Demonstrable experience in writing publications and presenting research results. Excellent oral and written expression skills in both Dutch and English.
Employment: Fixed-term contract for 1 year with prospect of extension. At Radboudumc, you build the future. We strive for the best care, education, and research.
