Activities and context
The project focuses on investigating the genomic architecture and evolution of sex determination systems in non-model species. Although the study organism model is fish, candidates with a strong computational background in plant genomics, mammalian genomics, or other evolutionary systems are highly encouraged to apply. The fellowship beneficiary will be responsible for leading and performing advanced bioinformatics analyses, which include: de novo genome assembly and chromosome-level annotation; comparative and evolutionary genomics; repetitive sequence analysis; molecular cytogenetics.
Mandatory requirements
- Have completed a PhD within the last 7 years in Genetics, Bioinformatics, Biological Sciences, Plant Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, or related fields;
- Expertise in computational biology, command-line interfaces, and programming languages (e.g., Python) for large-scale genomic data analysis;
- A recent publication record as first author, alongside publications (or evidence) demonstrating the required expertise for the project.
Desirable requirements
- Ability to coordinate projects and work effectively in a team;
- International experience and/or availability to undertake a research internship abroad (estimated duration of 1 year);
- Communication and writing skills in English.

This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationality. The selected candidate will receive a FAPESP Post-Doctoral fellowship in the amount of R$ 12,570.00 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 10% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent on items directly related to the research activity.
