PostDoc Fellowship: Neural Control of Leg Exoskeletons Post Stroke
Job Summary: The position involves developing next-generation control algorithms for wearable exoskeletons to restore natural gait patterns in individuals with motor impairments such as stroke. The project leverages real-time neural control and musculoskeletal modeling to enhance locomotion.
Responsibilities: Lead the development and integration of advanced neuromechanical modeling and control systems, including integrating HD-EMG decomposition algorithms with the CEINMS-RT framework, developing and validating motor unit-driven musculoskeletal models, implementing real-time control strategies for a bilateral ankle exoskeleton, and collaborating with clinical partners for evaluations.
Qualifications and Requirements: A PhD in Robotics, Control, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline. Hands-on experience with real-time programming (C++, Python, MATLAB), real-time communication systems (e.g., EtherCAT, CAN Bus), and closed-loop control of robotic exoskeletons. Strong knowledge of EMG-driven musculoskeletal modeling is preferred, along with demonstrated creativity, initiative, and excellent communication skills in English. Preferred qualifications include experience with clinical populations, digital signal processing, and multi-body simulation environments.
What the Employer Offers: A full-time post-doc position for up to 2 years with a salary between €4241 and €5538 per month. Additional benefits include a 30% tax ruling option, holiday allowance of 8%, year-end bonus of 8.3%, minimum 29 holidays, pension scheme, professional development programs, access to state-of-the-art facilities, and a collaborative work environment.
