Activities and context
The fellow will be responsible for the selection of B cells and antibodies from volunteers who have suffered multiple snakebite envenomations. Following selection, the B cells and the plasma antibodies will be subjected to long-read RNA sequencing and mass spectrometry, respectively, for subsequent heterologous expression. The expressed antibodies will then be assessed for affinity to snake venom toxins by surface plasmon resonance and ELISA, in order to compare their effectiveness with that of the naturally occurring antibodies.
Mandatory requirements
- A PhD in a related field, obtained less than 7 years ago (except under the conditions set out in FAPESP Ordinance PR No. 171/2024);
- Solid, demonstrable experience in mass spectrometry-based proteomic analysis or in RNA sequencing, as well as a background in immunology and biochemistry;
- Experience in quantitative proteomics data analysis and de novo peptide sequencing, or in RNA sequencing data analysis;
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team; fluency in written and spoken English.
Desirable requirements
Experience with the isolation of cells and plasma from blood; flow cytometry; surface plasmon resonance; ELISA; heterologous expression of recombinant proteins; publications in indexed peer-reviewed journals.

This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationality.
