Postdoc in bioinformatics and AI
The Chien lab (http://www.mpchienlab.org/) is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated bioinformatician to join our collaborative, interdisciplinary environment. If you have a 'can-do' attitude, a goal-oriented mindset, and a passion for (scientific) challenges, you are the right person for us.
Our lab develops technologies that integrate advanced imaging, computational analysis, and single-cell & spatial omics sequencing methods to address key biological questions, particularly in cancer research. Our focus is on investigating the molecular mechanisms underlying rare and aggressive cancer cell subpopulations, as well as (plastic) cancer cell states that contribute to tumor progression, metastasis and therapy resistance.
The candidate will lead several projects applying machine learning to (single-cell) multi-omics analysis for the identification of therapeutic targets (biomarkers or druggable targets). The candidate will also develop and implement AI-driven tools to predict disease prognosis and treatment response from multimodal data. In addition, the role will involve active participation in collaborative projects focused on single-cell (epi)genomics, transcriptomics, and TCR profiling.
The successful candidate will also be part of Oncode Institute (https://www.oncode.nl/), with which Dr. Chien is affiliated.
Requirements: You are in the possession of a PhD in a relevant discipline (computational biology/bioinformatics/statistics/computer science/AI) with a publication record reflecting individual accomplishments. You are proficient in Python and/or R; experience with shell scripting (Bash) and AI frameworks. You have a strong command of scientific English, both spoken and written. You show a can-do attitude, a solution-focused approach, and a goal-oriented mindset.
Conditions of employment: You will receive a temporary position for 1 year. Extension is possible. A salary between €3.598 and up to €5.669 (scale 10, based on a 36 hour workweek). Excellent fringe benefits, such as a 13th month paid out in November and an individual travel expense package. An International Office which aids in preparing for arrival and stay. Pension insurance with ABP. Special benefits, such as an incompany physiotherapist and bicycle repairer, and access to a gym.
Employer: Erasmus MC, Department of Molecular Genetics, consists of 13 research groups dedicated to investigating the fundamental mechanistic aspects of tumorigenesis.
