Postdoc Position: Cognitive Rehabilitation at the Donders Centre for Cognition

Job Description

Radboud University is looking for a junior postdoctoral researcher with a background in patient-centred research in the field of neuropsychology to support the research lines on neuropsychological rehabilitation in the department of Neuropsychology and Rehabilitation Psychology of the Donders Centre for Cognition at the Faculty of Social Sciences.

You will play a key role in supporting the PIs within the research lines that are focused on neuropsychological rehabilitation (accordingly, the research is predominantly applied research). Your main tasks will be data management and data analysis, and co-authoring scientific research papers using data that have already been collected in the department and collaborating centres. You will present these results at international conferences in the field of neuropsychology and/or cognitive rehabilitation. You will assist in the supervision of PhD candidates and facilitate collaboration with institutes such as the Klimmendaal Rehabilitation Centre, where studies may be partially or wholly embedded. Examples of ongoing research includes digital and/or face-to-face cognitive strategy training for people with acquired brain injury or Parkinson’s disease, the use of spared implicit learning to overcome deficits in executive function or memory, and the examination of newly developed neuropsychological tests.

Requirements

  • You have completed a PhD degree in the field of neuropsychology, cognitive neuroscience, behavioural science or a related field.
  • You have a research background in patient-centred research and excellent writing skills as evidenced by research articles published in peer-reviewed international scientific journals and/or successful grant applications and/or professional publications in the Dutch language.
  • You have excellent statistical, scripting and data analysis skills (e.g. in SPSS, R, and/or Matlab).
  • You have excellent people skills, are able to present your goals in ‘non-scientific language’ and are able to motivate others (e.g. patients, medical doctors, managers) to achieve the required goals.
  • You preferably have clinical experience (e.g. having completed clinical internships, ability to administer neuropsychological tests).
  • You are fluent in Dutch and English (essential for communication with patients and care professionals).

Conditions of Employment

We will give you a temporary employment contract of 1 year. Your salary within a maximum of salary scale 11.3 depends on your previous education and number of years of (relevant) work experience. The amounts in the scale are based on a 38-hour working week.

You will receive an 8% holiday allowance and an 8,3% end-of-year bonus.

We offer Dual Career Coaching. The Dual Career Coaching assists your partner via support, tools, and resources to improve their chances of independently finding employment in the Netherlands.

You will receive extra days off. With full-time employment, you can choose between 30 or 41 days of annual leave instead of the statutory 20.

Additional Employment Conditions

Work and science require good employment practices. This is reflected in Radboud University's primary and secondary employment conditions. You can make arrangements for the best possible work-life balance with flexible working hours, various leave arrangements and working from home. You are also able to compose part of your employment conditions yourself, for example, exchange income for extra leave days and receive a reimbursement for your sports subscription. And of course, we offer a good pension plan. You are given plenty of room and responsibility to develop your talents and realise your ambitions. Therefore, we provide various training and development schemes.
