Project Overview
The project investigates beneficial symbioses between mosses and cyanobacteria, focusing on nitrogen fixation, evolution of symbioses, and how interactions may shift between mutualistic and parasitic under different environmental conditions. The project is funded by a Villum Experiment grant.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, conduct, and complete experiments with mosses and cyanobacteria
 - Grow and culture mosses and cyanobacteria in co-culture and individually
 - DNA/RNA isolation, microscopy, transcriptomic/metagenomic analyses
 - Measure N2 fixation rates and photosynthesis
 - Analyze data using R and Python, perform multivariate statistics
 - Prepare manuscripts, contribute to seminars and workshops
 - Supervise students
 
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
- PhD in Biology, Ecology, Evolution, Environmental Genomics, or related fields
 - Excellent English communication and writing skills
 - Strong motivation and ability to work independently
 
Desirable Skills:
- Experience in experimental design and plant/microbe culturing
 - Microscopy, DNA/RNA extraction, RNA sequencing prep
 - Transcriptomic, metagenomic, and genomic data analysis
 - Data analysis in R/Python and multivariate statistics
 - Project coordination and supervision experience
