The Medical Faculty of Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic invites excellent scientists to apply for a two-year POSTDOC POSITION in Computational Cancer Genomics
Description:
The position is advertised for the Research Group of Karla Plevova – Genomics of Immune Cells, an interdisciplinary team of biologists and bioinformaticians exploring the complexity of the human genome, with a special focus on immune cells and hematological malignancies. We aim to understand how changes in genome structure and regulation contribute to the development and progression of leukemia. Our new teammate will be involved in exploring genomic data generated on primary leukemic samples, using computational methods. We are interested in specific features resulting from chromosome (re)organization and their functional impact. The selected candidate will work mainly with sequencing results, including data from long-read sequencing, chromatin conformation, and accessibility, toward data integration and interpretation.
The successful candidate should:
- Hold a Ph.D. or its equivalent, awarded within the past 7 years, AND have worked in research for at least 2 years of work, within the last 3 years, outside the Czech Republic (with a workload equivalent to at least 0.5 full-time employment)
- Alternatively, hold a Ph.D. diploma (or equivalent) from an international institution awarded within the past 3 years
- Demonstrate a publication record that includes a minimum of three research outputs (articles) within the past three years, surpassing the field's median standards, with at least two of them ranked in Q1 according to Web of Science.
Specific qualifications include:
- Enthusiasm for genomics-oriented research.
- Proficient programming skills, experience in sequencing data analysis and mining.
- A robust knowledge of human genetics and genomics, with emphasis on cancer cell features, will be greatly advantageous.
- Exceptional communication abilities and a collaborative spirit.
- Strong organizational skills and sense for data management.
