Job profile:
Your responsibilities:
- Independent scientific research in the field of dynamic meteorology, focusing on the influence of diabatic processes on synoptic scales and their interactions on mesoscale and planetary scales. Publications in internationally recognised journals
- Independent delivery of teaching modules and conducting examinations
- Supervision of students
- Participation in academic self-governance
- Contributing to the development and maintenance of the research group's software library
- Further training
Your profile:
- PhD in a discipline of atmospheric sciences (such as meteorology, atmospheric physics, climatology) or a related discipline
- Sound knowledge of dynamic meteorology, particularly at synoptic scales
- Knowledge of extratropical storms, jet streams and storm tracks would be an advantage
- Knowledge of the interaction between weather and climate variability would be an advantage
- Knowledge of diabatic processes, particularly moist-diabatic ones, and their influence on synoptic, meso- and planetary scales would be an advantage
- Ability to combine theory with data analysis from numerical simulations, reanalyses or climate models would be an advantage
- Broad programming skills in at least one high-level programming language knowledge of Fortran and Python is an advantage
- Knowledge of high-performance computing is an advantage
- Knowledge of AI methods is an advantage
- Experience in planning, implementing and leading scientific projects is an advantage
- Good written and spoken communication skills in English, proficiency in German is an advantage
- Experience in university teaching is an advantage
- Competence in supervising students is an advantage
- Teaching skills would be an advantage
- Communication and teamwork skills
