Offer Description
The Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Warsaw - a leading center of chemical sciences in Poland, recognized in Europe and worldwide, announces a competition for an assistant professor in a group of science positions, in project entitled "Surface-functionalized lipid-based nonlamellar nanoparticles as carriers for peptide antibiotics" financed by NCN. Project leader: dr hab Ewa Nazaruk.

Requirements

Skills/Qualifications
- with a PhD degree in chemistry or related sciences (required in the first day of work at the latest)
- experience in conducting experimental research, demonstrated by a record of scientific publications;
- practical knowledge of SAXS, fluorescence spectroscopy, and confocal microscopy; knowledge of electrochemical methods, including electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and quartz crystal microbalance (QCM), will be considered an advantage;
- experience in the preparation of model lipid membranes and in the preparation and characterization of lipid nanostructures;
- team working skills and the ability to collaborate in an interdisciplinary environment;
- good knowledge of English (at least B2 level)
- the candidate must meet the requirements of art. 113 of the Act - Law on Higher Education and Science dated July 20, 2018 (Polish Journal of Laws of 2024, no. 1571 as amended).
Specific Requirements
Main duties:
- Investigation of interactions between the prepared carriers and model bacterial membranes using e.g. SAXS, microscopic, and fluorescence-based methods;
- Preparation of lipid nanostructures and design of surface-functionalized versions incorporating antimicrobial peptides (AMPs);
- Characterization the nanostructures using small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) and dynamic light scattering (DLS);
- Analysis and interpretation of experimental results, along with the preparation of scientific publications;
- Presentation of results of research at scientific meetings and publication in scientific journals;
- Scientific and mentoring support for project students;
- Interdisciplinary collaboration with members of the research team, including researchers specializing in biology;
- Keeping scientific documentation;

Benefits
- a temporary contract with the University of Warsaw, in a full time.
- Planned start of employment December 2026/January 2027 for 12 months (with possibility of extension) at Faculty of Chemistry, University of Warsaw.
- The amount of remuneration: 140 000 PLN brutto-brutto
- We offer a possibility of development and the possibility to work in an interdisciplinary research team.
During the period of employment at the University of Warsaw, the candidate will not draw remuneration from another employer under a contract of employment, including an employer based outside Poland.
