The Advanced Nanorobots and Multiscale Robotics Laboratory, led by Professor Martin Pumera at VSB – Technical University of Ostrava, Czech Republic, is seeking a talented scientist or postdoctoral researcher to join its international team.
The successful candidate will contribute primarily to biomedical research involving intelligent micro-and nanorobotic systems, as well as to other interdisciplinary projects reflecting the current priorities of the research group.
The position is suitable for both women and men.
Research activities and responsibilities
The candidate will:
- Design, synthesize and characterize micro- and nanorobotic systems.
- Develop and optimize their propulsion, actuation and functionalization.
- Explore applications including targeted drug delivery, cancer therapy, biofilm removal and antimicrobial treatments.
- Evaluate the performance, biocompatibility and biological effects of the developed systems.
- Plan and conduct experiments, analyse data and prepare scientific publications.
- Collaborate with researchers from chemistry, materials science, biology and engineering.
- Contribute to other research projects of the group according to their expertise and the scientific direction defined by Professor Martin Pumera.
Candidate profile
- PhD in chemistry, materials science, nanotechnology, biotechnology, biomedical engineering or a related field.
- Research experience in micro/nanorobotics, microswimmers, biomedical nanotechnology or a closely related area.
- Strong experimental and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of relevant microscopy, imaging or materials-characterization techniques.
- Good scientific publication record.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Ability to work independently and as part of an international team.
Experience with biomedical assays, cell cultures, bacterial biofilms, magnetic actuation, surface functionalization or advanced microscopy is an advantage but not essential.
