Postdoctoraal onderzoeker in experimentele- en onderwijspsychologie en VR
DAF Technology Lab and the Department of Criminal Law are seeking a postdoctoral researcher with a strong academic interest in experimental psychology, educational psychology, virtual reality, and an interest in law and mock courts to work on a project training presentation skills in mock courts using VR and automated psychological measurement techniques.
The successful candidate will work in the DAF Technology Lab, an advanced virtual reality laboratory on the Tilburg University campus, featuring two Cave Automatic Virtual Environment (CAVE) systems.
The project aims to develop and test a training environment where students can practice pleading, with their performances—verbal and non-verbal skills—assessed and presented after their presentation.
As a postdoctoral researcher, you will work in the DAF Technology Lab in collaboration with the Department of Criminal Law. Your tasks will focus on experimental and educational psychology and VR, with the Mock Court of the Law School as a key partner.
You will conduct experiments to evaluate verbal and non-verbal skills of participants in the VR environment, participate in meetings with researchers and professionals in law, VR researchers and programmers, and business partners to advise on building a training interface for optimal feedback on presentation skills. You will design and conduct experiments, analyze data, and publish in international journals.
Requirements: A nearly completed or completed PhD and an excellent publication record in cognitive psychology, educational psychology, cognitive sciences, human-computer interaction, or related fields. Enthusiasm for these areas, especially law and mock courts. Excellent research and analytical skills, including experience with experiments, data analysis, and reporting. Experience with or willingness to learn statistics software like R. Proficiency in Dutch and English for stakeholder communication. Proactive, independent, curious, motivated, and results-oriented. Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
Working conditions: 0.8-1.0 FTE (32-40 hours per week), salary between €4,728 and €6,433 gross per month for full-time (UFO profile Researcher 3, scale 11). Temporary contract for 12 months. Additional benefits include 8% holiday allowance, 8.3% end-of-year bonus, hybrid working with allowances, pension via ABP, and more.
