Postdoctoral Associate
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate within the Cancer Pharmacology Department at the Rutgers Cancer Institute.
In this role, the Postdoctoral Associate will conduct research investigation into the characterization of oncogenic and tumor suppressor enhancer regions, as well as on the dissection of the interplay between metabolism and epigenetics in T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (T-ALL) using mouse models, under the supervision of the Principal Investigator. In addition to these objectives, the Postdoctoral Associate also performs research, experiments, and laboratory techniques of a specialized nature under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator.Additionally, the position involves drafting reports for inclusion in manuscripts and grant proposals.
Among the key duties for this position are the following:
- Conducts research experiments to understand the role and mechanisms of oncogenic and tumor suppressor enhancers as well as the interplay between metabolism and epigenetics to unveil new therapeutic strategies.
- Ability to effectively work with mouse models in vivo and perform FACS analyses.
- Prepares written reports of the research experiments.
- Prepares grant proposals based on the research conducted.
- Gives oral presentations of the research.
- Assists with the instructing and training of students, fellows, lower-level professionals, and technicians in laboratory technicians, instrumentation, etc. to develop the skills necessary to perform the required functions.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Ph.D. and/or M.D. in a relevant science, finishing their training (following their residency and/or fellowship), who wish to prepare for careers in academic medicine.
- Experience with FACS analyses or the ability to effectively learn this technique will be needed.

- Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Laboratory environment. Moderate noise.
- Exposure to blood, excrement, antineoplastic drugs, and possible exposure to infectious and communicable diseases.
- Universal precautions are mandatory. Exposure to hazardous chemicals.
