Postdoctoral Associate
Position Summary
Seeking a post-doctoral scholar to join vibrant research team in the Glacier History Lab. Ideal candidate thrives in teams and is interested in student mentoring. Seeking independent scholar who can pursue new research endeavors while co-leading existing research projects. Lab experience in lake sediment analysis and/or chemistry preparation of rock samples for cosmogenic nuclide analysis (or experience in other labs) a plus.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Pursue independent research
- Co-manage ongoing research projects in the Glacier History Lab
- Manage lake sediment analysis lab and cosmogenic nuclide prep lab
- Co-lead a lab group consisting of several graduate and undergraduate students
Minimum Qualifications
PhD in Earth Science or related field
Preferred Qualifications
- Expertise in Quaternary geology and paleoclimatology with specific interest in glacier and ice sheet reconstructions using geologic data and field studies
- Interest in working with and mentoring group of students (undergraduate and graduate) and being a leader in UB’s Glacier History Lab
- Experience working a lab environment on sample prep and/or analysis. Most ideal are candidates with experience working in a cosmogenic-nuclide dating prep lab
- Demonstrated independence in conducting all aspects of research, such as manuscript writing, proposal writing, oral presentations and student mentoring
