Postdoctoral Associate - (P.I.: Dr. Yuki Miura)
The Miura Laboratory in the Department of Molecular Pathobiology, Division of Biomaterials & Regenerative Biology at New York University (NYU) College of Dentistry, is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to join our research team.
Our research group investigates the fundamental principles of multicellular assembly in the human nervous system under both physiological and pathological conditions. By leveraging cutting-edge stem cell-based in vitro models along with advanced 3D and 4D imaging technologies, we aim to illuminate key molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying human neural development and the pathogenesis of neurological disorders. We are seeking a highly motivated, creative, and independent researcher to contribute to impactful and dynamic areas at the intersection of human neurobiology and bioengineering.
The Department of Molecular Pathobiology supports rapidly expanding research programs in state-of-the-art laboratories within the broader NYU research community. Research in the Division of Biomaterials & Regenerative Biology integrates bioengineering innovations with investigations into multicellular tissue assembly during healthy development and disease across molecular, cellular, and systems levels.
Key responsibilities of this Postdoctoral Associate position include designing and executing experiments, analyzing and presenting research findings, and contributing to publications and conference presentations.
This position offers access to a collaborative scientific community in the Department, opportunities for professional development, and support with postdoctoral housing in New York City.
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $58,500.00 - $62,500.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grand funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
The successful candidate will hold a PhD, MD, DDS, or equivalent advanced degree, with a strong track record of academic excellence demonstrated by high-quality publications and competitive awards. The ideal candidate will have expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Human stem cell or primary neuron culture
- Histology experiments (e.g., immunocytochemistry, in situ hybridization)
- Advanced imaging and data analysis (e.g., confocal, light-sheet, two-photon microscopy)
- Cellular bioengineering approach (e.g., on-chip cell culture)
- Electrophysiological techniques (e.g., whole-cell or extracellular recording)
- Genome editing and disease modeling (e.g., CRISPR/Cas9, TALEN, base-editing)
Applicants are invited to submit their applications through Interfolio by clicking the "Apply Now" button. The application package should include the following:
- Cover Letter: A brief statement of your research interests, relevant experience, and motivation for applying to this position (1 page).
- Curriculum Vitae: A comprehensive resume detailing education history, experience, and a list of publications (up to 5 pages).
- Research Statement: A detailed description of your past and current research, and how it aligns with this position (maximum 2 pages).
- Publications: Up to three impactful publications in PDF format.
- References: Names, affiliations, and email addresses of 2–3 professional references.
Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. The anticipated start date is between Fall and Winter 2025. For any inquiries, please contact Dr. Yuki Miura at y.miura@nyu.edu.
