Position Summary:
The Department of Statistics at Rice University seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate to conduct research in statistical learning, with a particular focus on uncertainty quantification, conformal prediction, and reliable machine learning under distribution shift.
The postdoctoral researcher will work with Dr. Judy Wang and will be expected to develop independent and collaborative research projects in statistical methodology, theory, computation, and related areas of machine learning and artificial intelligence. The position is intended to support rigorous methodological research addressing the reliability and uncertainty of modern statistical and machine learning methods.
The successful candidate will participate actively in the intellectual life of the Department of Statistics, including seminars, colloquia, and other scholarly activities, and will have opportunities for professional and career development throughout the appointment. Depending on departmental needs and mutual interest, the postdoctoral researcher may also have an opportunity to teach one course during the academic year.

Workplace Location:
This position is a full-time on-campus position, necessitating all duties to be performed in person at Rice University Campus. Per Rice policy 440, work arrangements may be subject to change.
Hiring Range: $60,000–$65,000 annually. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and relevant research experience.
This position is a full-time, term limited position funded by grant, soft and/or restricted funds. Continued employment is contingent on the continued availability of funding, ongoing research needs, and satisfactory performance.

- Anticipated start date: Summer or Fall 2027 .
