Postdoctoral Associate
Required Qualifications
(as evidenced by an attached resume): Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related/relevant field; experience with microfabrication for live-cell applications; experience with quantitative analysis of protein expression levels. Currently holds unrestricted employment authorization for the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong background and research experience in: generating and maintaining mammalian cell lines; experience in image analysis using Python or MATLAB; experience utilizing high-resolution optical imaging; experience with building optical system; and practical experience with molecular cloning.
Brief Description of Duties:
The Postdoctoral Associate will assist Lina Carlini, Principal Investigator, in the Louis and Beatrice Laufer Center for Physical and Quantitative Biology. The Laufer Center is a hub for research in physical and quantitative biology at Stony Brook University. Our aim is to advance biology and medicine through discoveries in physics, mathematics and computational science. Please visit laufercenter.org to learn more about the Center and the Carlini lab's research. The incumbent will conduct research in accordance with Stony Brook University policies and procedures.
Duties
- Design and build high resolution microscopes.
- Utilize instruments for long-term measurements for organelle motility; develop analysis pipelines.
- Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations, grant writing, and research summary reports.
- Other duties as assigned, which may include attending scientific conferences and meetings, or graduate teaching.

The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
