Doctoral degree (or foreign equivalent) in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, or a closely related field. Experience in kidney metabolism. Experience in surgical and non-surgical procedures in mice.
Preferred Qualification:
Experience in proteomics. Experience in live-cell metabolic assays. Experience in manuscript preparation. Experience in use of advanced scientific data analysis software (e.g. Prism, RStudio).
Job Description:
We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher to join the lab of Dr Sian Piret in the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension within the Department of Medicine at Stony Brook University. Our lab is focused on understanding mechanisms of acute kidney injury (AKI) and transition to chronic kidney disease (CKD). Specifically, we are studying transcriptional control of kidney proximal tubular cell metabolism, how metabolism is altered in AKI/CKD, and the cellular consequences for injury and repair. We use in vitro and in vivo models, including live cell metabolic assays and transgenic models. The successful applicant will assist the Principal Investigator in the experiments, data analysis, and manuscript preparation. The incumbent will conduct research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University.
The successful applicant will have excellent technical skills and high attention to detail. They will have strong presentation skills, and have an ability to work independently, including in problem solving, as well as within a team.
Specific Duties:
