Position Summary:

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate for the Outpatient Services in Newark within Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care.

Under direction, the Postdoctoral Associate provides therapeutic interventions for the psychological and social needs of individuals served. The Postdoctoral Associate will provide psychological testing as required by the program to increase our understanding of the issues experienced by the individuals we serve. Supports the integration of evidence-based practices and provide therapeutic interventions based upon the principles of wellness and recovery.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

Contributes to and supports goals and objectives of the Unit and UBHC.
Provides direct care, psychotherapeutic interventions/services in accordance with UBHC program/unit policies, accreditation standards, licensing regulations and billing requirements.
Completes and monitors clinical records in compliance with UBHC program policies, accreditation standards, licensing regulations and billing requirements.
Takes a lead clinical role in the department, including the professional development of staff, students and interns as assigned by supervisor.
Attends to professional development by remaining current in knowledge of trends and development in mental health.
Participates in research activities, development, implementation, and evaluation of programs.

Minimum Education and Experience:

PhD, MD or MD/PhD in clinical or counseling psychology.

Frequent, prolonged sitting, moderate standing, moderate walking, bending, travel to various sites/locations.
Extensive reading required.
Extensive computer work required.
Periodic speaking/lecturing for prolonged periods.
A Moderate noise.
Subject to unpredictable situations and both medical and psychiatric crises.
Possible exposure to individuals exhibiting assaultive behaviors.
Possible exposure to bloodborne pathogens that require use of personal protective equipment.
May be exposed to varying and extreme temperatures.
Individuals in community programs may be exposed to varied community environments.
