Job Summary
The Streelman Laboratory at the Georgia Institute of Technology invites applications for a postdoctoral research position. We are seeking a highly motivated and creative scientist with an interest in understanding the genetic, cellular, and/or neural mechanisms underlying complex behavior.
Our research focuses on the remarkable diversity of cichlid fishes from Lake Malawi, using this evolutionary model system to investigate how behavior is encoded in the genome, shaped by neural circuitry, and influenced by evolutionary processes. The successful candidate will join a collaborative and intellectually vibrant research environment dedicated to advancing our understanding of behavior across biological scales.
We welcome applicants from diverse scientific backgrounds. If this opportunity aligns with your research interests, we strongly encourage you to apply, even if your experience does not precisely match every qualification listed.
Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include:
- Carrying out independent research aligned with the goals of funded projects
- Mentor/collaborate with other lab group members
- Analyze large genomic, multiomic, and neural datasets
- Prepare manuscripts.
Required Qualifications
A PhD in Biology or other related field
Experience in evolutionary genomics, single-cell bioinformatics, and/or neural circuit tracing/manipulation, is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with fish models and/or non-model species may be beneficial to competitive applicants.
