Position Description
The PhD candidate will join an interdisciplinary team combining:
- CMST (Centre for Microsystems Technology) – Department of Electronics and Information Systems, imec-associated
- Electrochemistry and Surface Analysis (ESA) – Department of Chemistry
The project aims to develop emerging nanodevices as biosensors for liquid biopsy detection of multiple biomarkers associated with radiation-induced inflammation during prostate cancer treatment.
Key responsibilities:
- Execute and lead biosensing experiments.
- Develop and validate electrochemical sensors for inflammatory biomarkers.
- Design standardized biosensing protocols and frameworks.
- Analyze and report results in written reports and oral presentations.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary colleagues and integrate sensing technologies across CMST and ESA.
- Contribute to national funding proposals.
Profile
- Master’s degree (or expected by June/July 2026) in (Bio)Engineering, Chemical, Biochemical, Biomedical Sciences.
- Practical experience with electrochemistry, sample preparation, and electrochemical measurement setups.
- Motivated, proactive, structured, and independent researcher with a collaborative mindset.
- Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
- Coding skills (Matlab) and experience in scientific writing are a plus.
