Job Summary
Aherrahrou's lab, located at the Immunology Center of Georgia, applies in-silico as well as in-vitro and in-vivo methods to further unravel the genetics of cardiovascular diseases. We have a large dataset and are engaged in large networks of national and international collaborations like CARDIoGRAMplusC4D, Leducq, and others, and actively participate in data and sample exchange.
Responsibilities
- Interest in or have a good command of bioinformatics or computational biology.
- Application of GWAS, molecular QTL, precision medicine, Single-cell RNA and ATACseq, Single-cell CRISPR screening techniques.
- Genetics and biology of cardiovascular diseases.
- Collaborating with computational and wet-lab biologists for mechanism elucidation.
- Preparing written and oral presentations of results for the team and the public.
- Supervising of staff and students.
- Maintaining and organizing large amounts of genetic data and summary statistics.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. degree from an accredited college or university.
Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. degree from an accredited college or university in computational biology (bioinformatics, genomics, etc.).
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required). Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position. This position is funded through external sources. Continued employment is contingent upon the availability of these funds. Recruitment Period: Until Filled. Benefits include health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, retirement plans, vacation, sick leave, and paid holidays.
