Job Summary
The main focus of Dr. Kaddoumi's Laboratory is to investigate the contribution of cerebrovascular dysfunction to the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's diseases and related dementias (ADRD) and to develop therapeutic strategies to restore AD-associated dysfunctional blood-brain barrier (BBB) and improve cognitive function. For this postdoctoral position, applicants must hold a PhD, MD, or equivalent degree in a related field (neuropharmacology, neuroscience, neurochemistry, vascular biology). A background in ADRD pathologies, and molecular and cell biology is required, with experience in CRISPR/Cas gene editing, IPSC differentiation, cell culture, and animal models. Candidates should have good written and oral communication skills, work effectively in a team environment, be highly organized, and have a documented record of research accomplishments.
Responsibilities
- Design, conduct experiments, analyze, validate, and present research data, contribute to manuscript preparation, and participate in research collaborations.
- Perform in vitro and in vivo animal studies, behavioral studies, immunohistochemistry and microscopy imaging, molecular biology, biochemical analysis, and bioanalysis.
- Summarize and evaluate findings, develop derivative applications of techniques developed by own research activities or reported by other research projects. Presents findings at scientific meetings locally and nationally.
- Contribute to training and/or supervision of technicians, graduate and undergraduate students in the lab.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
PhD degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with in vivo and ex vivo electrophysiology, Patch clamp electrophysiology, and GCaMP
