Offer Description
The Laboratory of Protein and Redox Biology at the Institute of Biosciences, University of São Paulo (IB-USP), Brazil, invites applications for a FAPESP-funded postdoctoral position to investigate the localization and functions of mitochondrial peroxiredoxins (Prxs) in oxidative stress responses and redox signaling.
The main objectives of the project are to understand: (i) the mechanisms that target Prxs to the mitochondrial matrix and intermembrane space (IMS); (ii) how Prxs localized in these compartments regulate peroxide homeostasis, including H₂O₂; and (iii) the physiological functions of these proteins in the mitochondrial matrix and IMS. Redox status and mitochondrial function will be investigated using yeast and human cell models, with a particular focus on ScPrx1 and human Prdx3, and with the aim of establishing potential connections with processes related to cancer and ferroptosis.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in an interdisciplinary research environment combining approaches in molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, and redox biology.
How to Apply
Applicants should submit:
- Curriculum vitae (FAPESP Summary Curriculum Vitae format), including a complete list of scientific publications;
- Motivation letter describing previous experience relevant to the project and interest in the position;
- A copy of the Ph.D. thesis;
- Names and two letters of recommendation.
Applications should be submitted by e-mail with the subject line:
