Job Summary

This one-year postdoctoral position focuses on discovering how the brain supports learning and remembering new words and how this changes with age. It involves contributing to an ongoing MRI project on word learning with participants aged 8-26 who were taught Finnish words.

Responsibilities

• Make a major contribution to an ongoing MRI project on word learning.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including Clara Ekerdt, Guillen Fernandez, Gabi Janzen, Evan Kidd, Kristin Lemhöfer, and James McQueen.
• Analyze behavioural, functional, and structural MRI data from a cross-sectional sample of 135 Dutch participants aged 8-26.
• Perform analyses on data from a multi-day word learning paradigm and related sMRI data.
• Write findings up for publication.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Hold a PhD in psycholinguistics, neuroscience, cognitive science, psychology, or a related field.
• Have hands-on experience in analyzing functional and/or structural MRI data.
• Have hands-on experience in analyzing behavioural data on language acquisition, ideally word learning, and/or on human memory consolidation.
• Have demonstrable experience with R and/or other programming languages (e.g., Python or Matlab).
• Be a creative and critical researcher motivated to pursue an academic career.
• Contribute to a collaborative work environment with transparent communication and a positive attitude.
• Possess an excellent command of English (spoken and written).
• Have excellent time management and organizational skills.
