About the Research Project
The group HECE leads research in hydrology and flood risk, developing the WOLF modelling system and operating experimental facilities. It is part of the Urban & Environmental Engineering unit.
Job Description
The position focuses on:
- Modelling hydrodynamic effects of bridge clogging by floating debris, including laboratory experiments and model development.
- Stress testing temporary flood storage systems, involving surveys, end-to-end modelling, and risk analysis.
Specific Duties and Activities
Main tasks:
- Research on modelling flood risk and cascading effects.
- Writing publications and scientific reports.
- Participation in scientific events.
- Contribution to teaching.
- Supervision of master projects and internships.
- For postdoctoral researchers: co-supervision of PhD students.
- Assistance in organizational tasks.
- Writing proposals.
- Contribution to applied engineering projects.
Profile
Required skills:
- PhD completed within the last 6 years.
- Background in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or related fields.
- Proficiency in computer programming (e.g., Python).
- Fluency in English.
- Basic knowledge of French is an asset.
Our Offer
Fully funded position for two years with a basic gross monthly salary of about 5,500 EUR. Benefits include reimbursement of public transportation and training opportunities.
