Applications are invited for a post of Post-Doctoral Research Assistant (PDRA) within William Harvey Research Institute, Queen Mary University of London (QMUL)
The candidate will be highly motivated and self-driven with interest in cancer and-or developmental biology to study the molecular mechanisms underlying craniopharyngiomas, a paediatric Wnt-driven hypothalamic-pituitary tumour. This project lies at the boundary between tumour and developmental biology and aims to establish how oncogenic b-catenin bearing stem cells initiate tumour formation. The lab employs transgenic models, developmental biology and bioinformatics techniques to understand early stages of tumour formation.
About You
The post-holder will be proficient in molecular biology techniques and proven in vivo work of mouse transgenics and managing mouse colonies (essential). Good knowledge of software for statistical analyses, editing figures (image-j, photoshop and illustrator) are essential. The post-holder will be self-driven and ambitious and will be encouraged to formulate their own scientific questions arising from the data generated.

The position is within the Centre for Endocrinology at the William Harvey Research Institute in Bart’s and The London Medical School. The Centre for Endocrinology is a well-established large centre for basic, clinical, and translational research in paediatric and adult endocrinology. The post is based at the Charterhouse Campus in London. Its full time (35 hours per week), fixed term appointment for 3 years, with an expected start date of September 2024. The starting salary will be Grade 4, in the range of £40,223 per annum (pro-rata), inclusive of London Allowance.
