We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Assistant with expertise and interest in Cell Biology/Physiology/Cardiovascular Science to join the Tzima research group at the Centre for Human Genetics in Oxford. The Tzima research group investigates the role of mechanotransduction in cardiovascular disease and the laboratory is at the cutting edge of developments in in vitro and in vivo models of mechanotransduction. Research projects are highly interdisciplinary, aiming to integrate in vitro biochemical and cell biological techniques with in vivo models and clinical samples. Recent publications from the group include Nature, Science Advances, J Cell Biology. We are looking for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join the group to work in the area of mechanotransduction, fluidics to characterise the role of a novel gene in atherosclerosis development and progression. You will become part of the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine based at the Centre for Human Genetics in Oxford.
The post-holder is required to hold a PhD/DPhil in a relevant discipline and will carry out independent research exploring fundamental mechanisms of mechanotransduction and its role in cardiovascular disease. You will have proven experience in endothelial tissue cell culture, molecular biology techniques including cloning, confocal imaging and biochemical assays (SDS-PAGE and Western blotting, qPCRs). Experience with fluidics systems especially shear stress assays is also required. It is also essential that the applicant has published a first author publication (accepted or in press is also acceptable) that is not a review.
