About the Role

About the Role

This is an opportunity to work as part of the team and project “Shock transients in the inner heliosphere during maximum solar activity” funded by a Royal Society URF Renewal led by Dr Heli Hietala. The postdoc project involves primarily simulations informed by observations, related data analysis and theory/models, comparing various aspects of shock particle acceleration and meso-scale structures in different regions of space. The key data comes from recent missions (SolarOrbiter, ParkerSolarProbe, BepiColombo) and databases of MagnetosphericMultiScale and Messenger.

About You

The successful candidate will have a PhD (or equivalent) in the field of space physics or a closely related area. They will have the skills and abilities to conduct high-quality innovative research and to successfully disseminate this to the international community. They will be highly motivated, demonstrate initiative, collaborate successfully towards team goals, and show commitment to research, academic life, and ethical working.
