Categories: Biology/Life Science

Department: 26030100 - HH-APK-ADMINISTRATION

Job Description:

An NIH-funded postdoctoral position is available in the Fatigue and Underlying Neurobiology (FUN) Lab, directed by Dr. Agostina Casamento-Moran within the Department of Applied Physiology and Kinesiology at the University of Florida. The successful candidate will join a dynamic, interdisciplinary team investigating the neurobiological mechanisms of fatigue and post-exertional malaise in Long COVID, ME/CFS, and other syndromes.

The FUN Lab aims to transform our understanding of fatigue, one of the most prevalent yet poorly understood symptoms across the healthcare system, by integrating neuroimaging, psychophysiology, and computational modeling. Our work spans from basic science to clinical/translational neuroscience with humans, and our team includes collaborators from medicine, engineering, and psychology. We are committed to patient-centered science, rigorous methods, and high-impact discoveries.

We are seeking a motivated postdoctoral fellow with expertise in neuroscience, kinesiology, biomedical engineering, or a related field to advance research on the behavioral presentation and neurobiological mechanisms of fatigue. In addition to working collaboratively with the research team and conducting innovative research, the candidate will receive active mentorship and institutional support to develop their independent fellowships/grant proposals to advance their scientific career.

More information about the Department of Applied Physiology and Kinesiology can be found here: http://hhp.ufl.edu/about/departments/apk/

Expected Salary:

Commensurate with experience and consistent with NIH salary scale

Minimum Requirements:

  • PhD in neuroscience, kinesiology, biomedical engineering, or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in human research and data analysis.
  • Record of scholarly publications and scientific communication skills
  • Proficiency in statistical and data analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python, R).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with fMRI, EEG, and/or psychophysiological methods.
  • Familiarity with research on fatigue, motor control, and/or interoception.
  • Interest in interdisciplinary collaboration and translational research.

Special Instructions to Applicants:

The position is initially available for one year and can be renewable. Salary and benefits are commensurate with NIH postdoctoral guidelines and University of Florida policies. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Inquiries should be directed to Dr. Agostina Casamento-Moran at agoscasamento@ufl.edu.

To apply, submit the following:

  1. A cover letter describing your research experience, interests, and career goals.
  2. A curriculum vitae.
  3. Names and contact information for three professional references.

The position will remain open until filled.

The final candidate will be required to provide official transcripts to the hiring department upon hire. A transcript will not be considered “official” if a designation of “Issued to Student” is visible. Degrees earned from an educational institution outside of the United States are required to be evaluated by a professional credentialing service provider approved by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES), which can be found at http://www.naces.org/.

The University of Florida is an equal opportunity institution. Hiring is contingent upon eligibility to work in the US. Searches are conducted in accordance with Florida's Sunshine Law.
