Postdoctoral Research Associate (Fixed Term)
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA) in the Centre for Pandemic Risk Management.
The Centre for Pandemic Risk Management brings together an interdisciplinary team of scientists, social scientists and public policy researchers to build the capability of the UK's engineered pandemic risk policy and practice. The PDRA will drive a research project within the centre focussed on the application of machine learning and bioinformatics approaches to the prediction of pandemic risks.
The role-holder will be expected to carry out their own research projects using bioinformatics approaches to define host/pathogen interactions at the molecular level and to use that information to build predicative models of disease. Our integrated research programme has flexibility for the candidate to contribute to multiple ongoing initiatives whist driving their own research projects applying bioinformatics approaches to host/pathogen interactions, cell signalling and comparative immunology of zoonotic infections. The applicant should have a track record of research in computational biology with experience with large-scale data analysis, data mining and machine learning.
Given the transdisciplinary nature of the team developing this programme, the role will primarily be based in CRASSH (the Centre for Research in Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities).
