About the opportunity
The Postdoctoral Research Associate in Cardiac Engineering will apply and further develop their expertise in conducting high-quality research to advance the Faculty or School’s research agenda. Working under broad supervision from senior academic staff, the role undertakes independent and collaborative research and scholarly activity, contributing to discipline knowledge, research outputs and strategic priorities.
This position provides an excellent opportunity for an early career researcher to build research independence, expand their academic profile and contribute to a dynamic and supportive research environment.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- conduct research, scholarly or professional activity independently or as part of a research team, contributing to discipline knowledge
- develop and refine independent research skills under the supervision of senior academic staff, with an increasing degree of autonomy
- ensure quality, standards and excellence are maintained in all research activities and outputs
- provide informal mentoring and advice to students within the discipline, where appropriate
- carry out administrative tasks and contribute to faculty and school meetings
- contribute to a positive workplace culture that values collaboration, diversity of thought, excellence and achieving outcomes
- undertake other duties and contribute to projects appropriate within the classification level as required.
About you
- a doctorate or PhD in a relevant field
- demonstrated understanding of subject matter within the cardiac engineering or related discipline
- experience conducting original research and/or engaging in scholarly activity
- a developing research profile in the discipline or area of expertise
- a developing network of academic, industry and professional partners and stakeholders
- strong planning, organisation and research skills
- excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present research effectively
- the ability to work collaboratively and independently in a research-intensive environment.
