Position Highlights

The department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of Arizona seeks two well-trained Postdoctoral fellows to work on a project at the intersection of deep learning and computer security/privacy, under the direction of Dr. Michael Wu.

The project seeks to investigate security and privacy problems in deep learning models and explore deep learning-empower solutions to securing next-generation cyber systems.

This is a year-to-year appointment, contingent upon funding and performance.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform research and develop a software platform related to deep learning and security/privacy.
• Mentor and collaborate with undergraduate, masters students, and Ph.D. candidates on research.
• Participate fully as a lab team member to collaborate on research, collection of data, and attend meetings.
• Participate in innovative research and participation in proposal writing.
• Prepare, edit, and revise research papers to be published in peer-reviewed conference proceedings and journals.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Deep knowledge in applied machine learning and/or security and privacy.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research.
• Strong communication skills (writing and oral expression).

Minimum Qualifications

• Conferred Ph.D. in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, etc.) is required upon offer of employment.
• At least three years' experience in machine learning or cybersecurity-related research and development.

Preferred Qualifications

• Effective writing experience for publication of articles in scientific research journals.
• Experience with PyTorch.
