Postdoctoral Research Associate
Position Highlights
The Chorover laboratory seeks a full-time postdoctoral scholar to support on a Strategic Environmental Research and Development (SERDP) project focusing on the use of engineered colloidal polymeric sorbents for the remedial uptake and retention of poly- and per-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in porous geomedia.
Duties & Responsibilities
- organic synthesis of colloidal polymers
- column experiments to measure the reactive transport and adhesion of colloidal polymers in sand media representative of aquifer solids
- column and batch experiments to quantify the uptake of various PFAS species
- data analysis
- manuscript writing
- graduate student mentoring
Minimum Qualifications
- Must have a Ph.D. in environmental science, soil science, chemistry, hydrology, or a related field upon hire.
- Demonstrated capabilities for conducting bench-scale environmental chemistry experiments.
- Prior experience with liquid-chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) methods for analysis of various PFAS species.
Preferred Qualifications
- Expertise in conducting highly precise solute transport experiments for porous media at bench scale.
- Prior experience with multiple reaction monitoring experiments using LC-MS/MS.
