Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Age-Friendly Built Environment

  • Term: Fixed-term, part-time (60%) basis for four (4) years
  • Remuneration: $134,910 to $160,222 pa (LEVB) (inclusive of $114,000 to $135,390 salary pa, 17% superannuation and 17.5% recreation leave loading)
  • Location: Gardens Point
  • Open to: Current staff members of QUT who have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of the fixed-term appointment. In support of our strategic priority of Indigenous Australian success, Aboriginal Australians and Torres Strait Islander people who are not QUT staff are also eligible and encouraged to apply.

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Age-Friendly Built Environment to join School of Architecture and Built Environment, Faculty of Engineering.

This position provides an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic interdisciplinary research team contributing to creating an age-friendly built environment for older Australians. As part of the Australian Future Fellowship research, the project investigate how Naturally Occurring Retirement Communities (NORCs), a new option for ageing in place, influence their independent living and well-being. This project will generate new knowledge about the origin, evolution, and dynamic behaviour of NORCs in Australia, and develop government policies to support the future growth of NORCs.

What you need to succeed

  1. Completion of a doctoral qualification in Architecture, Construction Management and urban and regional planning field. 
  2. Demonstrated experience and expertise in in age-friendly communities/living environment
  3. Demonstrated research skills in one or all of the following data analysis methods: geo-spatial analysis, system dynamics modelling, Bayesian network modelling
  4. A history of publishing research findings in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals, highlighting research productivity and quality.
  5. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills demonstrated through working with colleagues, supervisors and external stakeholders.
