About This Opportunity

Join a collaborative and impact-driven research environment in QAAFI as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Quantitative Genetics and AI/ML. In this role, you will advance innovative research that apply AI/ML to develop methods and tools to improve crop performance and resilience, contributing to solutions for global food security. Working alongside leading researchers, you will develop your research profile through high-quality publications, collaborative projects, and competitive funding opportunities, while also mentoring emerging researchers and engaging with industry and research partners. This is an exciting opportunity to grow your career while delivering research that makes a meaningful real-world impact.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Research: Work with colleagues to develop collaborative research projects, apply best-practice methodologies, and contribute to the translation of research outcomes to industry and end users.
  • Supervision and Researcher Development: Support the supervision and development of Honours and Higher Degree by Research students, providing guidance and contributing to researcher development.
  • Citizenship and Service: Contribute to the academic community through internal service, collaboration with industry and external partners, and participation in activities that support the School and University.

About You

  • Completion or near completion of a PhD in a relevant field e.g. Quantitative Genetics, Crop Genomics, Plant Breeding.
  • An emerging profile in research in the field of AI/ML, quantitative genetics, or plant breeding.
  • Knowledge on computer programming and web development tools
  • Evidence of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences.
  • Some experience in meaningful internal service roles and contributions towards external activities
