  • Full-time (100%), fixed-term position for up to 3 years
  • Base salary will be in the range $82,057.75 - $109,246.18 + 17% Superannuation (Academic Level A)
  • Based at our St Lucia Campus

About This Opportunity

Focus your research on the development of new polymer sorbents for the removal of emerging global contaminant per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). In this role, you will have a unique opportunity to collaborate and work closely with UQ colleagues, and industry and government partners to solve this challenging issue.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Research: Establish a research program, collaborate on research projects, seek and manage research funding, publish in reputable journals, utilize best practice research methodologies, and participate in project discussions.
  • Supervision and Researcher Development: Supervise students, recruit and manage employees, provide performance feedback and training, resolve conflicts, and ensure correct remuneration and benefits.
  • Citizenship and Service: Develop partnerships, demonstrate leadership through mentoring, engage in internal service roles and committees, perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, and uphold university values.

About You

  • Completion or near completion of a PhD in the discipline area of polymer chemistry, organic chemistry or water treatment.
  • An emerging profile in research in the discipline area.
  • Evidence of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences.
  • Evidence of contributions towards successfully obtaining external research funding.
  • Some experience in meaningful internal service roles and contributions towards external activities

The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia, conduct concerning gender-based violence, criminal check, education check etc.
